How to choose an external colour scheme in 30 seconds.

How to choose an external colour scheme in 30 seconds.

When we had our house resheeted, I needed to choose a colour for the trim.  The house itself is a classic miners cottage.  We ended up going for a galvanized (silver colour) roof as this is the traditional colour for these roofs, but the trim had to be chosen from the colorbond range.   We forgot to tell the roof guy what colour we wanted (I hadn’t had time to work it out) and then … Read entire article »

Wreath finished and some new music I found…

Wreath finished and some new music I found…

I finally finished my Solstice wreath.  Luckily we will be having some folks over for “Christmas in July” so at least I won’t have to wait a whole year to use it! Listening to “Old Adam the Poacher” while crafting.  Beautiful quiet times to be had during winter. Time to “be still”. Foam ring and some of the 311 *(%^&*^%$ felt circles I cut up to make the ruffles. Patience is not such a great virtue of … Read entire article »

A Laurel Hedge Can Thrive In Almost Any Conditions

So I’ve been pondering the garden situation.. again.  Especially the front fence.  I was thinking of putting some agapanthus in there originally, but it may take a while to grow up and cover the fence.  Which could be called “rustic” but in reality is just a bit ugly.  However, we won’t have the resources straight up to replace it, so I think hiding it with a fast growing, hard-to-kill hedge may just be the way … Read entire article »

So.. if you are going for an old-world look with modern functionality, you can get stuck on built-in wardrobes. There are some that fit in with the character of an older home, but they don’t have sliding doors and they don’t come cheap. They are usually installed by a … Read entire article »

Cessnock – kitchen renovation

Cessnock – kitchen renovation

About 10 years ago (prior to illness and kids) I renovated a house in Cessnock.  Thought I’d post up a couple of photos of the before and after in the kitchen.  (I’ll get the bathroom shots up too soon.  Just flicking through them I saw some photos of myself.. my goodness I was skinny back then.  LOL This was a really seriously budget job (aren’t they all.. ) so I used the same kitchen carcass and … Read entire article »

Living room inspirations

Living room inspirations

OK – so this is the photo that the real estate agent took of the lounge room. I think he used a fish eye lense or something, because it looks much bigger in the photo than it looks in real life! I’ve travelled around the web and collected some ideas of what I want this room to look like, here’s my plan to revamp it: (1) The room is very dark, so the first thing to do … Read entire article »
